You do not need perfect measurements to start. CosLoom will ask for exact measurements after confirming the scope, and light custom, props, and full custom builds need different details.
Before Measuring
Different commission types need different measurements.
Light custom costume bases usually need the core body measurements. Props and accessories may only need size, head circumference, hand position, or shipping limits. Full commissions need more detail after the first review.
How to Measure
Keep the numbers calm, consistent, and wearable.
- Use a soft measuring tape. Do not use a rigid ruler for body circumference measurements.
- Measure close to the body over thin clothing or underwear. Do not measure over thick clothing.
- Stand straight and relaxed. Do not hold your breath or pull the body into an unnatural posture.
- Keep the tape level when measuring chest, waist, hip, thigh, calf, neck, and wrist circumference.
- The tape should be comfortably snug: not tight enough to compress the body, and not loose enough to hang.
- Ask another person to help with shoulder width, arm length, outer leg length, and inseam. These are hard to measure accurately alone.
- Measure twice. If the two results differ, measure a third time and use the most consistent result.

Shoulder Width
Measure from shoulder point to shoulder point across the back, not around the body.
Bust / Chest
Measure around the fullest part while wearing the undergarments planned for the costume.
Waist
Measure the natural waist. Do not pull the tape tight; leave normal breathing room.
Hips
Measure around the fullest part of the hips while standing naturally.
Arm Length
Measure from shoulder point to wrist with the arm relaxed and slightly bent.
Leg Length
Share outer leg length from waist to ankle and inseam if pants, boots, or armor are involved.
Shoe Size
Provide your usual size and country system, especially for boot covers, armor, or floor-length costumes.
